  36. Q. What is it?
  37. A. Printer's Apprentice is a font management utility for the Windows
  38.    3.1 operating environment. It helps you manage all your TrueType
  39.    and Adobe Type 1 fonts by printing inventory sheets (4 flavors!),
  40.    ANSI charts, keyboard layouts, and specimen sheets. It was noted
  41.    as the *BEST* Windows font utility by PC Magazine (10/27/92) and
  42.    features one of the sharpest interfaces around.

  44. Q. How do I install this program real quick?
  45. A. Unzip the PRNAP58.ZIP to a new diskette or directory and run
  46.    INSTALL.EXE. This will decompress the files and copy them
  47.    to the right places on your hard drive.

  49. Q. How does the program modify your system?
  50. A. The Printer's Apprentice setup program will copy several files
  51.    to your computer.

  77.    files that already exist!

  79. Q. What happens if I get a "Out of Date" error after installing the
  80.    software??
  81. A. Every attempt has been made to distribute the latest versions of
  82.    the VBX & DLL support files. However, making sure the correct version
  83.    is on your machine can be a pain. Some shareware (and commercial!!)
  84.    vendors do not use reliable SETUP.EXE and INSTALL.EXE programs. These
  85.    programs may overwrite a support file or place the wrong date stamp
  86.    on a copied file. Thus you will receive a "out of date" error when
  87.    you try to run Printer's Apprentice. If you get this error, the fix
  88.    is easy.

  90.         1) Search your ENTIRE hard drive for the offending file. 2)
  91.         Delete ALL copies of this file. You may be surprised at how many
  92.         duplicate VBX files you have creeping around on your hard drive.
  93.         3) Restart Windows. 4) Reinstall Printer's Apprentice. This
  94.         should fix everything for you.

  96. Q. I noticed this version uses different VBX files? Can I delete VBX
  97.  files
  98.    from your old versions that are no longer used??
  99. A. I have really, really tried to reduce the number of third-party add
  100.    on files used by Printer's Apprentice. Listed below are VBX's that
  101.    where used by prior (5.6 & below) version. You can delete them from
  102.    your Windows & System directories...

  105.     3DLABEL.VBX
  106.     PICCLIP.VBX

  108.    NOTE: These files may be used by other shareware programs on your
  109.    computer. Check your documentation for more information.

  111. Q. How do I remove the program if I need more space on my machine?
  112. A. There is a file named INSTALL.LOG located in the PA directory. This
  113.    lists out *every* file and program manager group added to your system.
  114.    Note: Some other vendors may use some VBX files on your system.
  115.    THREED.VBX is a VERY popular file!!

  117. Q. What happened to the documentation file?
  118. A. Everything has been placed in a Windows help file. Just click
  119.    the Help menu item or the question mark icons...

  142. Q. What is the upgrade policy?
  143. A. When you register, I will send you a code and a certificate. Upon
  144.    release of major upgrades, I will notify you with a post card. The
  145.    cost of duplication and mailing has gotten out of hand, so upgrades
  146.    will cost a nominal $5 if you need a new diskette. Or you can wait to
  147.    find the program on a local BBS. The codeword will always work for
  148.    future editions.

  151. A. Yes! I am always open to suggestions! This software is made for
  152.    anyone who cares about type. Designers, DTPers, layout artists,
  153.    print shops, publishers, etc, this sofware is for you. If you have
